My SXSW this year ended with both loud and softly with Reading Rainbow. I knew nothing about this band besides thy were playing the Slumberland Records showcase (an already great sign), and was plenty surprised. It was a boy/girl duo playing what sounded like really noisy and unclean shoegaze. It was an unholy racket that was a mix of Times New Viking and Dum Dum Girls. And cranked through the tiny speakers of the inside stage, the band still managed to be loud as fuck, but in a good way. Not the worlds most energetic show, but still a nice "mini bang" to end this huge music fest on.
