Superchunk-Where Eagles Dare (Misfits Cover)

There is nothing that needs to be said. Superchunk have covered The Misfits, the best Halloween band ever, on Halloween, and their best song as well, "Where Eagles Dare". As if this Halloween could not get any better. Danzig has nothing Mac McCaughan. Enjoy.

Deerhunter-Cool (Pylon Cover)

This is just awesome. The ever great Deerhunter will be releasing a sort of split 7" as a tribute to fellow Georgia artist Pylon. They cover the classic "Cool", and manage to keep the same tension that defined that song, while still making it darker and giving it a Deerhunter style sheen. The flip side is two remixes of "Yo-Yo" by Calvinist, with help from Sleigh Bell singer Alexis Krauss. It will be released on June 28 by DFA, the same label that handled the reissues of Pylon's albums. Hopefully the whole release will bring a little extra attention to to the long under appreciated Pylon.

Owen Pallett Covers Guided By Voices' "Game of Pricks"

For the past few weeks, The AV Club has been doing and filming the Undercover series, which is based around the idea of getting a bunch of current artists and having them pick a song to cover from a list of songs by older bands. So when they got Owen Pallet into the studio, him choosing to cover Guided By Voices' legendary "Game of Pricks" probably wasn't what they were expecting. But truth be told Pallet is actually a pretty big Guided By Voices fan and despite the fact that their styles couldn't be more different, he does a very good, and original, cover.
